TEEN CREATIVE WRITING SERIES: CRAFTING A STORY (4 x 2.5 hour sessions)

Tuesdays | June 6th through 27th | 5:30PM to 8PM

Prepare for Camp NaNoWriMo with this short writing workshop course. This series will go through the basic craft elements necessary to create a compelling story (fiction or nonfiction) from setting to dialogue, tension to resolution. Writers can take these building blocks of craft to develop engaging stories! Each week we will discuss 1-2 topics for crafting a creative fiction or nonfiction story with a mix of lecture and writing prompts. Participants are encouraged to share their writing with the group and will learn how to give and receive helpful feedback and set themselves up for participation in Camp NaNoWriMo, should they so choose. This course is suitable for experienced writers or those brand new to the page, no prior writing is necessary as we will be generating work together!

Camp NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) is a nonprofit initiative to encourage writers to commit to a creative goal during the months of April and July. It is open to writers of all experience levels and ages, and anyone interested in participating can do so for free by signing up at www.nanowrimo.org/what-is-camp-nanowrimo . SDC is not affiliated with NaNoWriMo.
