A Pueblo Holiday tradition, the “Own Your Own” Art Sale and Holiday Exhibition, celebrates its 62nd anniversary. The “Own Your Own” exhibit, hosted at Sangre de Cristo Arts & Conference Center welcomes novices and seasoned artists alike to submit their pieces to sell at affordable prices.
Manager of Collections and Curation, Karen Foglesong welcomes everyone in our community to participate. She feels that this event is an important way for new artists to get a feel for submissions, for more experienced artists to be seen in our community and for both groups to meet and interact. And, of course, for Puebloans to get great, unique gifts for their friends and loved ones!
“Own Your Own” Art Sale and Holiday Exhibition was originally started at University of Southern Colorado, now Colorado State University-Pueblo (CSUP) by Ed Sajbel as a fundraiser for art student scholarships. The exhibit since then has been taken up by Sangre De Cristo Arts & Conference Center and has become a Pueblo holiday tradition.
This is the only art exhibit the Sangre de Cristo hosts where purchases may be taken home on the same day. Gift wrapping will be made available by volunteers. It’s the perfect opportunity to buy gifts for the holiday season and support local artists, keeping shopping dollars at work in our community.
Submissions will be accepted starting August 5th. The last day for submitting handmade pieces to the “Own Your Own” exhibit is October 7th. The gallery opens December 6th and will be selling artwork through December 28th.
