Mi Razon de Ser, the premiere exhibit of Pueblo’s own Rick Espinoza opens on Feb 21st and runs through April 22nd 2025 in the Regional Gallery. Espinoza is a self-taught artist who uses colored pencil to create realistic portraits that are so detailed they often seem to be paintings. Espinoza is inspired by the beauty he finds in everyday people he meets and interacts with. As a child he was not able to acquire art supplies so he would break bricks into pieces to use the shards to draw on pavement. The more he follows his talent the more success he seems to encounter, winning both first and second place in the drawing categories in the Colorado State Fair Fine Arts Gallery in one year. Espinoza works diligently to capture the quiet dignity of each of his subjects from prayerful individuals to loyal friendships. They sing off the canvases. Included in this exhibit are many of Espinoza’s best works from private collections and a small offering of available pieces, including the new reveal.

Join us for a celebration of Espinoza’s work on March 15th. Small snacks, beer and wine will be served and Mr. Espinoza’s latest piece will be revealed at a night of Comedic entertainment featuring the talent of Mr. Ricky Ramos in the Jackson Ballroom. The reception begins at 6pm and the festivities will move to the Jackson ballroom, with a full bar, at 7pm.
