Robin Beattie
2025 Emerging Artist choice
A Quilted Canvas Art Exhibit
Each year the Sangre de Cristo Art center sponsors the Colorado State Fair Fine Arts Gallery by offering one professional and one emerging artist the opportunity to exhibit within the Helen Thatcher White Galleries. Robin Beattie of Quilted Canvas Studios is our 2025 Emerging Artist choice, and we are proud to present a selection of her original quilted canvases.
So, what is a quilted Canvas? It’s exactly what it sounds like: a quilt, transformed into a canvas. A tactile, textile piece of art meant for your wall, not your bed. A Quilted Canvas is where tradition flips the script. It’s fine art with fabric. Precision with personality. Craftsmanship with a little chaos. Not foo-foo, not fluffy, just unapologetically alive.
Beattie does not use patterns. Instead, she painstakingly pieces each work together over hundreds of hours. Bold textures, layered fabrics, and unexpected color pairings turn every stitch into a statement. These aren’t your grandmother’s quilts. They’re wall-ready works of art that bring warmth, movement, and personality to any space.
Original art stitched from scraps, soul, and just enough sass to start a conversation.
