The Whimsical Art of Ed McCarthy

May 1st, 2026 - August 1st, 2026

3rd Flr Foyer Gallery
Colorado State Fair Fine Arts Gallery Professional Choice 2025 Winner

Painting is Ed McCarthy’s passion, something he has been doing for most of his life. Ed was born in New York City in the 1950's. He entered his first art show in 1966, sponsored by WCBS-TV, at the ripe age of nine.

Ed McCarthy met his future wife, Jean a nurse,  on Long Island, they married and settled down in Colorado in 1980 and raised a family of 3 children, all of whom now have families of their own. It was the relocation from NY to Southeastern Colorado that so moved Ed to pursue art later on as a professional artist. This long and challenging journey has allowed him the opportunity to grow creatively and to eventually be represented by various galleries in Colorado, New Mexico, Wyoming and Florida.

Ed has participated in a vast number of shows, exhibits and events and has received countless awards and accolades. In addition, Ed’s art is owned by collectors world wide.

In recent years, Ed has cultivated a passion for building stuff. His focus has been on musical instruments using found objects, scrap wood, scrap metal and such to create Cigar Box Guitars, Tin-Jo's, Can-Jo's, and the like.

Ed and Jean moved to Edgewater, Florida in 2008, but they eventually returned to Pueblo, Colorado 2015. Ed continues his life long goal to use his gifts and talents to bring wonder and smiles to the faces of others.
