72 Hour KICKASS Film Fest

3rd annual screening and award ceremony for the 2023, 72 Hour Kick Ass Film Festival!

We will be screening all qualifying short films submitted by independent filmmakers for our 72-hour film fest! These films were written, filmed, and edited in only 72 hours! These films of all genres will be selected as contenders for 14 amazing awards such as Best Director, Audience Choice, and Best Short film!

We will have movie snacks and refreshments with guest musical performances!

Community Access Day is a Free Day

Community Access Day is a FREE DAY at the Sangre de Cristo Arts & Conference Center, for guests to roam the Buell Children's Museum along with the fine arts galleries in the Helen Thatcher White building.

One Act Play Competition

 

The first annual One Act Play Competition will involve 8 southern Colorado high schools competing against each other for five awards. The high school students will be judged my professionals in the performing arts including directors from UCCS, Adams State University, and CSUP. 

$5 for non-students to enter the theater.

Four performances will take place from 8am-12pm. After a lunch break, they will resume from 1pm-5pm. (Food trucks will be parked on campus for this event.)

Blooms at the Buell

You are invited to the second annual Blooms at the Buell event! Celebrate a special lady in your life by painting a flower pot in Artrageous and choosing a flower from our pop-up Flower Shop. Not only is this event celebrating the special women in our lives, but it will also be the final hurrah for our spring exhibit, “What’s the Buzz? The Life of the Honey Bee”.

 

We will also feature a garden talk by local beekeepers at Boley’s Bee Haven. Come Celebrate the beauty of spring at the Buell Children’s Museum!

Brandon Leake, season 15 winner of America's Got Talent, will be performing his one man poetry show "Insomnia". This spoken word play walks through a college senior's late night woes: a battle with his inner demons.
