Summer Arts Academy

June 2 - August 15

Grades 6 - 12 (Ages 11-17)

Summer Arts Academy is our week-long programming designed for middle and high school students (grades 6–12, ages 11–17) who are interested in developing real artistic skills in a focused, supportive environment. Each session offers hands-on instruction in a variety of mediums, including drawing, painting (acrylic and watercolor), photography, ceramics, and fiber arts.

Classes are structured to build skills progressively throughout the week, allowing students to explore new techniques, strengthen their creative confidence, and complete finished projects they can be proud of. With small class sizes and dedicated instruction, students receive individualized guidance while working alongside peers who share their interest in the arts.

Whether students are just beginning or looking to grow their existing abilities, Summer Arts Academy provides a welcoming space to learn, create, and explore.

Students who are new to the program may also register for a one-day trial session (based on availability) for $30. This option is designed as a “try-before-you-commit” experience, though full-week enrollment is recommended for the best learning experience. Please contact Michael Willard at 719-295-7200 ext. 7219 for more information.

*Member pricing will reflect in your cart once logged in.

Please note that classes are held in the Helen Thatcher White galleries building, located to the right of the Buell Children's Museum.

Directions: When arriving to the museum, if you choose to park in the museum's main parking lot, you will enter through the Buell Children’s Museum. Once inside, you can utilize the elevators or stairs to reach the 2nd Floor, and go across the Buell Exit through the glass doors into the Helen Thatcher White Galleries. Classes are held in either the 2nd floor classroom, or the 3rd floor classroom. Our front desk staff can assist with directions. If you have any questions or need access assistance, please reach out to our front desk staff at 719-295-7200 or you can email Guest Services at guestservices@sdc-arts.org. We look forward to welcoming your student(s) for classes!
