November Artist of the Month
Hanson / Spinning Star Studio
Jennifer Hanson believes that art is bigger than one person and that we connect when we use and enjoy things that other artists have made.
Always an avid creator, Jennifer has always been one of those people who is constantly busy and constantly creating things. As a child, she was always making hot pan holders, macaroni pictures, and flowers with fabric and pipe cleaners. That creative energy eventually transferred into the art of ceramics. Jennifer loves the immediacy of clay, the physical nature of the work and the mind-body connection. She feels that her pottery is her own way of connecting with the bigger world.
Easily inspired by nature and her other hobbies such as gardening, biking, figure skating, and animals, it always seems to translate into her works. The versatility of clay lets her express her various interests. She shares that the way to keep her work fresh and unique are these various interests. She’s able to have several themes running at any given time and clay allows her to work in small batches and return to it when inspiration strikes again and again.
She hopes to make intimate connections with others by using her own personal and inspirational words and pottery and hopes that it is a source of comfort and enjoyment.
Please check out more of her work on Etsy, Instagram and her website: www.spinningstarstudio.com
