Artist of the Month
Julie Burnham
Julie Burnham finds pleasure in reconstructing objects which are no longer useful by breathing a new life into them. These items include but are not limited to old farm parts, railroad spikes, square nails, bowling pins and similar items. She enjoys transforming them into wall décor, sculptures, and windcatchers.
She received a BFA from CSU Fort Collins in 1979 and did an independent study in blacksmithing her senior year with a program that continues to this day. She has been working with wood and metal ever since. She and her husband owned and operated a gallery / frame shop in Colorado Springs for 15 years then decided to build a solar home with ample shop space for both metalworking and woodworking.
She tries not to take her work too seriously as she strives to bring whimsy and simplicity to her works. Find more of her works at windcatchers-etc.com!
