Rodeo | Rhapsody in Blue | Glass House

Saturday, March 23, 2024 at 2PM
Tickets: $20 | Members: $18

This spring the Sangre de Cristo School of Dance is celebrating two titans of American composing, Aaron Copland whose ballet Rodeo, originally choreographed by Agnes De Mille, is a salute to cowboy culture and the American West, and George Gershwin whose Rhapsody in Blue is widely regarded as one of the most important American musical works of the 20th century. Join us for the SDC School of Dance's original take on these two classics of American music.

In addition, our spring performance will feature an original piece by Evolve Dance Project (EDP). Glass House, explores how fragility and vulnerability can be painful. This show dives into the dichotomy between our desires to be seen by others, to belong and have purpose, and the risk inherent in vulnerability.

Join us for these three-part performances on Saturday, March 23 for a 2:00 PM matinee. A Q&A will be held after each performance to discuss the history and context of Gershwin and Copland's contributions to American music and dance, as well as a conversation with the cast and creators from the Sangre de Cristo School of Dance.
